Behind Our Success
Formed as a joint venture between two leaders in the global graphite industry, Australian Securities Exchange listed Company Evion Group NL (ASX: EVG) and India based Metachem Manufacturing Company Pvt. Ltd, Panthera combines excellence in the manufacture of expandable graphite with distribution to global tier-1 players in the global graphite industry. Evion Group bring substantial commercial and graphite marketing to the JV and proposes to supply material from its Maniry site in the near future.

Evion Group
Evion Group (ASX:EVG) is a vertically integrated graphite developer with projects being developed in both Madagascar and India.
The Company holds the flagship Maniry Graphite Project, which is located in Southern Madagascar, with the Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) recently completed and has been identified as one of the key regional mining projects to be fast tracked into development over the next year.
Operating under Australian environmental and general governance standards, the company will benefit from the close, long standing, multi-faceted relationship in the resources sector between Australia and India.
Panthera Graphite finalised construction of its development in April 2024. Since then, Panthera Graphite has begun producing expandable graphite from India, a country with a number of decades of experience, with the first order to be shipped to Europe over the forthcoming months.
The JV has already commenced planning for an upgrade to production that has the potential to more than double sales volumes and revenue. This is in response to very strong demand which could see the JV become one of the world’s largest producers of Expandable Graphite outside of China, supplying markets in Europe, the USA and southeast Asia.

Our Management Team
David Round
- Over 20 years senior executive experience in capital markets, mine operations and specifically in the development of critical minerals supply chain businesses.
- Previously Head of Finance, Sales & Marketing at Australian graphite producer, Bass Metals Ltd; lead a large and experienced finance department and, critically, developed sales, marketing, and logistics networks for the supply of Graphite to the USA, India, throughout Europe and China.
- Well-recognised global network within the graphite mining, processing and downstream sectors and has extensive corporate and operational experience in Madagascar, other parts of Africa, the USA, Europe and Asia.
Jayant Pawar
- Over 25 years of experience in general business administration
- Manages a group of two manufacturing and one service industry businesses
- Responsible for business development of all three Metachem companies
Kah Yan Lim
Joint Company Secretary / Group Financial Controller
- Kah Yan Lim joined Evion Group NL in December 2021 as Group Financial Controller.
- She has over 20 years of professional corporate financial reporting and compliance experience primarily in the resource sector across different commodities.
- Prior to joining Evion Group, Kah Yan was the Financial Reporting and Compliance Manager of CITIC Pacific Mining, a large-scale iron ore producer. She has also held roles as Financial Controller and Group Technical Accounting Adviser with various ASX-listed and non-listed corporations.
- She spent the earlier part of her career in international accounting firms Deloitte and Ernst & Young in both Perth and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Jonas Pawar
- Studied International Business at the University of Northampton, United Kingdom, having graduated in 2017
- Holds 5 years of experience in the Metachem family business, having undergone training in multiple departments throughout all three group companies
- Currently Head of Operations & Business Development at Metachem Manufacturing Company Pvt. Ltd.
From Vision to Completion
Facility Development Timeline
Evion Group (formerly known as Black Earth Minerals) signs joint venture agreement with Metachem to produce Expandable Graphite.
Agreement signed to secure Expandable Graphite.
Acquired 5-acre site in the special economic zone in Pune, India which will be known as Panthera Graphite Technologies.
Scoping study commenced accessing the viability of building a manufacturing plant which would produce the spheronizer required for lithium batteries in Europe.
Independent tests showed Evion’s graphite is highly suitable for lithium batteries, supporting the strategy to develop downstream graphite processing business to supply battery anode makers.
Preconstruction works at the site of Panthera expandable graphite JV site.
Production testing and sample testing with buyers.
Commencement of production and ramp up.
